Hello!
Welcome to the Blog section of our page! This is where we (mostly Elizabeth) will be keeping you all up to date on our weekly activities of our farm! For now, or biggest update is this website! Taking the time to sit down and work on the computer is not overly my favorite thing to do. I am reminded by the red squiggly lines under my words what a poor speller I am, and the blue lines reminding me of proper grammar. Yet at the same time I find satisfaction out of learning how to spell some of these words properly. See, part of our adventure to become more self-sufficient is relying on less on technology in some ways, yet in others it is helping educate us to do better, and well, when you know better, you do better. My goal right now is to mix the old ways with the new ways. Yes, I want to use today's technology to help better my life. Yet, I don't want to be tied to it in a sense that I am rendered helpless if it all comes to a crashing halt. What exactly do I mean by that, well my biggest concern in life right now is what if the power goes out? Will I have a way to cook food for my family, yes, we have a woodstove, or an outside fire pit. How will I store food long term? Canning and preserving using safe and proven methods. Clean running water? While I have a hand pump for my well, what if the well goes dry? So, we are still working on figuring this one out. But these are my points. I can mix so much of what is available today with what knowledge we have from the past, and I want my kids to learn these things too. I hope you all enjoy reading my blog and seeing what we have available from our small little homestead.
